BUYER QUESTIONS

Agentic AppSec buyer questions, answered

Short answer

Twenty-four short answers in four groups: the basics, buying and pricing, the platforms we score, and how this site works. Each answer links to the page that goes deeper. Scores and ranks in the answers are computed from the current data.

What is agentic AppSec?

What is agentic AppSec?

Application security for a software process in which AI agents take part. It covers controls on coding agents and AI agents inside AppSec platforms that triage, prioritize and fix findings. See what agentic AppSec covers.

How is agentic AppSec different from AI code security?

AI code security is mainly about the code AI tools produce. Agentic AppSec also covers what agents do while they work and the AppSec work that agents now take over, such as triage and fixes.

Where can a control act on a coding agent?

At six points on this site's map: the agent, the IDE, the pull request, the pipeline, triage and the fix. See where agents touch the SDLC.

Do I still need SAST and SCA?

Yes. Agent controls reduce what goes wrong while the agent works, and fix agents act on findings scanners produce. Every platform here still scans code at commit and pull request.

What is a remediation agent?

An AI agent that writes the fix for a security finding. The useful ones validate the fix and land it as a pull request for review. See running a fix loop.

Are instruction files enough to secure a coding agent?

No. Files such as .github/copilot-instructions.md steer an agent, but the agent can ignore them. Enforcement needs a hook, an IDE guardrail or an endpoint control.

How do I buy and price agentic AppSec?

Which agentic AppSec platforms publish prices?

Snyk, Semgrep, Aikido Security and GitHub Advanced Security publish prices on their own sites. Legit Security, OX Security, Wiz Code and Backslash Security publish AWS Marketplace list prices; Cycode publishes a pricing basis, Endor Labs plan names and a seat definition, and Apiiro no pricing. See the line-up.

Which platforms can I start for free?

Snyk's Free plan, Semgrep's free tier for up to 10 contributors, Aikido Security's Developer plan for 2 users and Endor Labs' local Developer tier are free. OX Security's Terms of Service allow free use for up to 9 developer contributors.

Is coding agent security included in entry plans?

Not always. Snyk states that Evo capabilities, including coding agent security, require an Enterprise Platform Subscription. Ask each vendor which plan includes the agent features.

How should I run a proof of concept?

Pick one team, list its coding agents, and test one governance control and one fix agent against your own findings. Measure fix acceptance and blocked actions against a baseline. See measuring the program.

What should I ask about a fix agent?

What it fixes, where the fix lands, whether it is validated before review, whether it is generally available or in preview, and which plan includes it.

How do I compare two platforms quickly?

Use a head-to-head page, for example Cycode or Legit Security, or put up to five platforms in the line-up.

What about the platforms you score?

Which platform ranks first?

Legit Security ranks first on our published weights at 8.80 out of 10, followed by Cycode at 7.70. The rankings show the full order.

Where does Legit Security rank, and where does it trail?

Legit Security ranks 1 of 10 at 8.80. It trails at least one platform on policy and audit and pricing. See the Legit Security profile.

Which platform governs coding agents most fully?

Legit Security scores highest on coding agent governance on our scores. See the criterion breakdown.

Which platform has the most complete fix agent?

Legit Security and GitHub Advanced Security score highest on agentic remediation on our scores. The fix loop lesson explains what we look for: what the agent fixes, where the fix lands and whether it is validated.

Which platforms lead on triage?

Legit Security, Apiiro and Endor Labs score highest on agentic triage and prioritization, through reachability and code-to-runtime context.

Which vendor names the most coding agents?

Legit Security and Snyk names the most of the six agents we track. See the census.

What if all my code is on GitHub and I use Copilot?

GitHub Advanced Security covers code scanning, secret scanning and agentic autofix natively, at published per-committer prices, but its agent controls cover GitHub's own Copilot coding agent only. See the GitHub Advanced Security profile.

Which platform suits a small team on a fixed budget?

Aikido Security publishes flat prices, from $350 a month for Basic with 10 users included, and a free plan for 2 users. Semgrep is free for up to 10 contributors. Neither describes org-wide controls on coding agents on the pages we read.

How does this site work?

How are the scores made?

Each platform gets a 0 to 10 score on nine weighted criteria from public pages read in September 2026 and updated on 11 October 2026, with a reason and source per score. Totals are computed in code. See the scoring method.

Did you test the products?

No. This is desk research on public vendor pages, changelogs and standards documents. We did not install or run any product.

Who publishes this site?

The Pipeline Desk. Scores follow the published scoring method.

How do I report an error?

Use the contact page with the topic Correction and a link to the public source. Totals recompute when the data changes.
